Zeenat Aman told, ‘This picture was clicked by photographer JP Singhal during 1977 for the look test of the film Satyam Shivam Sundaram. For this the photoshoot took place at RK Studio. Whereas, the costume was designed by Oscar winner Bhanu Athiya. Everyone who knows the history of Bollywood would know that there was a lot of controversy and uproar at that time regarding my character Roopa in Satyam Shivam Sundaram.

Zeenat openly mentioned the brawl that broke out over her ‘erotic’ character. He wrote, ‘The allegations of obscenity regarding this character always surprised me, because I neither found anything obscene nor found it obscene in the human body. I was working according to the director and this look was part of my job. Roopa’s sexuality was not the core of the story, but a part of it. It was not even that this scene was shot in a deserted place. It was choreographed in front of dozens of crew members. It was rehearsed again and again and it was shot. Director Raj Kapoor (Rajji) gave me work in this film, but was very worried about my western image. He was not able to decide whether the audience would be able to accept me in this avatar or not. In such a situation, he did a look test. Later, on the basis of this test, we shot a short reel based on Lata ji’s famous song ‘Jago Mohan Pyare’ from the 1956 film Jaagete Raho. This reel was screened at RK Studio to know the opinion of the distributors about my character. After the screening, the rights of the film were sold with immediate effect.
