Sahir Ludhianvi Birth Anniversary: Born on March 8, 1921, in the house of a Jagirdar of Ludhiana, Sahir Ludhianvi’s real name was Abdul Hayee Sahir. Sahir’s father was very rich, but he was separated from his mother. This was the reason that Sahir’s childhood was spent in poverty with his mother. Sahir did his early education from Khalsa High School in Ludhiana. After this he got admission in Government School.
When love with Amrita remained incomplete
When Sahir was 22 years old, his first book of poetry, Talkhiyan, was published. This period was of 1943. This was the same time when Sahir fell in love with Amrita Pritam in college and was expelled from the college. Actually, Sahir was a Muslim, while Amrita was a Sikh. In such a situation, Amrita’s father did not approve of this relationship. Please tell that Sahir and Amrita used to study in the same college. Moved to India in 1949
After being expelled from college, Sahir did odd jobs. In 1943, he came to Lahore and became the editor of a magazine. One of his writings was published in this magazine, which was considered anti-government. The Government of Pakistan issued a warrant against him, after which Sahir Ludhianvi turned to India in 1949.

The craze for Sahir’s poems and songs started increasing gradually. He wrote lyrics for the first time in 1949 for the film ‘Azadi Ki Raah Par’. However, Sahir got fame from the song ‘Thandi Hawai Lehra Ke Aayen’ from the film ‘Naujawan’. After this he wrote songs for films like Baazi, Pyaasa, Phir Subah Hogi, Kabhi Kabhi etc.

Sahir wrote the song ‘Aana Hai To Aa’ for the film Naya Daur in 1957. This was followed by the song Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hoon from the 1976 film Kabhi Kabhi. The song Ishwar Allah Tere Naam from the 1970 film Naya Raasta still reminds me of him. At the same time, the song Abhi Na Jao Bakhti Ki Dil Abhi Bhara Nahi Toh from the 1961 film Hum Dono is hummed even today. It is said that Sahir wrote this song with a broken heart.

Sahir Ludhianvi was awarded the Padma Shri award by the Government of India during the year 1971. Apart from this, he was awarded the Filmfare Award twice. When Sahir was 59 years old, he died of a heart attack on 25 October 1980.
