Rekha-Reena Roy Fight: Bollywood has seen many catfights over the decades, and people always love to know about them all. Especially when there are many stars in the same film, there is always a possibility of rift between the actors due to some reason or the other. Although sometimes it becomes difficult for the director to handle all the stars together. One such catfight took place between the famous actresses of the 80s, Reena Roy and Rekha, when both of them were seen together in the film ‘Naagin’.
Famous filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli won the hearts of the audience in 1976 with the multi-starrer film ‘Naagin’. The film had some of the best actors of that time, including Reena Roy, Sunil Dutt, Firoz Khan, Sanjay Khan. Apart from this, Rekha, Mumtaz, Vinod Mehra, Yogita Bali, Kabir Bedi, Anil Dhawan and Jeetendra were also part of it. Though the director managed to bring out the best in each actor, however, he found it difficult to make Rekha and Reena work together in the film.
The blockbuster film made Reena Roy very popular and gave her a different identity. After the success of the film, the actress got a different position in the Hindi film industry and the golden phase of her career began. Reena appeared in back-to-back superhit films and received immense love and appreciation from the audience.
There was a lot of ruckus about clothes
During this, Reena also gave a tough fight to Rekha. Whereas Rekha was one of the top actresses of that time, so when she was cast in ‘Naagin’ opposite Reena Roy, she did not want to appear less than her in the film. Reena Roy played the lead role in the film and all the focus was on her.
However, Rekha was not happy with the idea of Reena playing the second lead. The film had a song named ‘Tere Ishq Ka Mujh Par Hua Yeh Asar Hai’, which was sung by Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi. Reportedly, the song led to an ugly fight between Rekha and Reena as Rekha got upset over a dress and threatened to quit the film. Reena’s dress for the song Hua Yun was more expensive than Rekha’s.
However, when Rekha came to know about it, she became extremely angry and lashed out at director Rajkumar Kohli, who immediately requested the producer to change the outfit. But the producer said that everything was already set and the shooting should not be delayed. This enraged Rekha and she gave an ultimatum that she would not shoot the song if her dress was not changed. Rekha’s attitude took the entire crew by surprise and eventually, Kohli changed Rekha’s outfit and the song was shot.
