Got equal pay for the first time in 22 years
During a conversation with Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios at the South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW 2023), Priyanka Chopra said, “I might get into trouble for saying this, depending on who is looking. I have been working in the entertainment industry for 22 years and have done more than 70 features and two TV shows. But when I did Citadel, it was the first time in my career that I got pay parity. I’m laughing at it, but it’s kind of crazy.”

She further added, “I do the same amount of investment and work but I am paid much less. But the ease with which Amazon Studios said, ‘This is what you deserve, you are the co-lead, this is fair. ‘ And I was like, ‘You’re right, it’s okay.’ I wonder, is it because there are so few female decision makers in Hollywood? If a woman didn’t make that decision, would it be a different conversation? Those are not conversations that happened very easily.
