A month later I had a heart attack and after that an asthma attack.

Anurag told, “It all started when my daughter started receiving threats, then I started having anxiety attacks. I stopped speaking online. This increased my drinking. My exercise stopped, I started ordering food from outside. One by one I kept on deteriorating my health. The down slide went on. Then there was an asthma attack, I went to rehab to stop drinking, then my leg vein burst, then I had to stay in a wheel chair for about 4 months, because of this I started drinking again. After this there was an asthma attack again. For two-and-a-half years, health kept on deteriorating.” Anurag told that after this he started paying attention to his health and now he is much better.


Threats were received after CAA Protest

Anurag said that due to all the negativity on the social media platform, he got away from Twitter. Anurag had earlier said that he had deleted his Twitter account in 2019 due to threats being received by his parents and daughter. Recalling the time when he spoke out against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and went to Jamia Millia Islamia University to participate in anti-CAA protests, Anurag told The Indian Express, “It was at that time When I got off Twitter because my daughter started getting trolled, getting rape threats and anxiety attacks… So, I got off Twitter in August 2019 and I moved to Portugal. (Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat) and then, when the whole Jamia Millia thing happened, I came back to India. I was like, ‘Yeh mujh se bardasht nahi ho raha hai, koi kuch bol nahi raha hai.’
